Marybel Mayorga
Hello everyone! My name is Marybel Mayorga. I'm Canadian born and of Nicaraguan origins. I'm a mom of a beautiful little girl and so lucky to have an amazing husband by my side.
I was raised by my amazing parents who have strong faith values. I went to church every Sunday and was an altar server for many years. Until I became a teenager, and questioned my faith, our religion, and so much more... This is when I discovered World Youth Day. I've been to three of them, so far: one in Germany, one in Spain and the last one in Panama. As you know, every WYD has a theme. Funny enough, every theme was like a message that God was sending me. It came at a perfect time, when I was searching for answers about our Catholic Faith.
Throughout my journey, I also became a professional dancer and an actress. I was dancing on tour and had incredible opportunities to appear as a lead role on major tv networks. I was sick on tour, having anxiety attacks on stage while dancing. I remember saying to myself: what's going on? I've been dancing for 15 years and nothing like this ever happened before. And then on one particular night in my hotel room, when I got a great calling from God. I felt Him saying 'I need you to give more'.
And this is when I said 'YES' to Jesus.
I left the tour, came back to Canada early, finished my university degree in Communications/Public Relations and started to work at the Diocese of Montreal as a Web Content Manager. I wanted to use my talents and gifts for His Glory, not mine. If I shine, it is now through Him. He put me here, He deserves the credit. This year, I had an unbelievable opportunity to work for the Dicastery of Communications of the Vatican along with 15 other young communicators from around the world. The project is called Faith Communication in the Digital World. How can we put our Catholic Faith into the Digital World?
I'm so grateful for every little thing God gave me and still is giving me each day. Even though sometimes I feel there is a lot of work to do, my arms are open to receive what He has for me. I will never give up!
