Fr. John Abad
The call to follow Christ in the ministry of priesthood can be compared to the sequence of the liturgy of the Eucharist. That’s the best way I can describe my vocation to the priesthood. It started with an acknowledgement that life has no meaning without God in it. This awareness, however, is tempered by the feeling of unworthiness and struggle with temptations and sin. However, the Word of God, i.e, the scriptures, provides solace and consolation. It is an invitation to offer one’s self daily to witness to Christ upon the altar of life. Like the bread - broken, blessed and shared – the salve of God’s grace healing personal wounds creates confidence and generosity to share the blessing of good news with everyone we meet. To love God and our neighbours seems to be a straightforward rule. But it works more like a moral compass because there will always be the pain of growing, and nurturing the heart to accept the brokenness of others and recognize their gifts as well. Perseverance is an important Christian virtue. To see human realities through the eyes of Christ summarizes every action of a good Christian.
